"IGNITED" IN GRANT PARK

Despite bitter temperatures, AP Sculpture students Luis Aleman from Kelvyn Park H.S., Gabriel Garcia from the Social Justice H.S., Rosaida Keith from Kenwood Academy, and Michelle Stokes from Michele Clark H.S. sculpted snow into fire to create "Ignited" for Snow Days Chicago 2010. Representing Gallery 37 AAEP, beginning on January 27th, these student artists worked for over three days to produce a metaphor for our times in Grant Park. The students sculpted along side teams from other schools and professional sculptors as snow turned into flames, a "Chinese Opera Star," and other amazing art pieces.

Chicago Public Schools ALL-CITY art exhibition

All-City Art Exhibition 2010

Once again, the Office of Arts Education (OAE) will recognize the work of CPS students and their high school art teachers during the All-City Art Competition. The program officially begins on Thursday, January 28, 2010 with submittals due for all 10 categories ranging from painting and drawing to photography, ceramics and sculpture. This year, we would like to see an increase in submittals for both mixed-media and printmaking and encourage more students to participate and be recognized for their achievements.
